After several weeks of strange happenings, including earthquakes and tremors, Poptropolis Games Island sank back down beneath the waves and is no longer available for play. If you didn’t get your chance to complete this island, you’ll have to wait until it returns. That is, if it does return. The creators have left no word as to whether it will ever come back. Because it arrived to celebrate the 2012 London Olympics last summer, we may need to wait another four years for Poptropolis Games to return. That would be terrible!

As far as we can remember, this is the first Poptropica island to completely disappear, although there have been other rumored islands that simply never made it onto the map. But now that Poptropolis Games is gone, do you think Poptropica should remove other islands?

The newest island on Poptropica, Poptropolis Games, was just released today for paid members. Non-members can also play a limited version. In Poptropolis Games, you compete in ten different track and field events and try to get the top overall score to win the competition and the island medallion. The events include a hurdle race, archery competition, and diving event. Poptropolis Games is a lot like Reality TV Island, where instead of going on a long quest you just compete in several mini-games. Twisted Thicket Island is now available for everyone to play. Get all the cheats and walkthroughs on the Twisted Thicket Island page. It’s a really great island where you explore deep in the enchanted woods and try to stop some evil plans from construction workers. But before that happens you need to figure how to get by all the creatures in the forest.

The Poptropica Creators released a few new details for the upcoming Poptropolis Games island. Here’s what they have to say:

The city of Poptropolis rises from the sea once every 100 years to host a tournament devoted to proving tribal supremacy. In Poptropolis Games, you’ll choose a tribe to represent, and compete in several track and field events in pursuit of the championship. It won’t be easy!

Finally, the official information page reveals the details of the members-only bonus quest and the members-only items. An ancient warrior has returned to Poptropolis to reclaim the championship for himself. Prepare to battle the toughest competitor in the history of the Poptropolis Games!

The members-only items include a Wrestling Singlet costume, Plant-a-Statue power, and the Discus item.

Welcome to the Poptropolis Games. Every one hundred years, Poptropolis (the ancient capital of Poptropica) rises from the ocean and an athletic tournament is held to determine which tribe will reign supreme. It’s part Olympics and part Hunger Games. This new island adventure, the 27th on Poptropica, plays a lot like Reality TV Island. There are ten different events and you represent one of the eight tribes. Your main goal is to win as many of the events as possible and claim the highest overall score. Poptropolis Games Sneak Peeks

1. It’s got an ancient Olympics theme.
2. The island rises up from the ocean, probably meaning it was buried for centuries and is now just being revealed.

4. The games will be “old-school” track and field style events like javelin toss, shot-put, long jump and foot races.

The island was released for members only on May 24, 2012. Non-members are able to play a limited demo version of the game where they can compete in a single event. Get ready for the Poptropolis Games to begin!

Did you see the announcement last week on the official Poptropica blog about Poptropica Friends? This is a new set of features coming to the game soon. The biggest part is that you will be able to have a buddy list of friends in the game and see when they’re playing. But the other features include game photos that get taken while you’re doing the island quests and something that looks like achievements and badges for doing certain things in the game.

There will be a “personality page” for your avatar where you can take quizzes and stuff to determine your personality in the game.

And they also snuck in the special Closet feature for members only where you can store up to thirty different outfits.

Hooray! We’ve finally got a release date for Twisted Thicket Island. It will be available to paid members starting next Thursday, April 12.

The Poptropica Creators pulled an April Fool’s prank this weekend by announcing that every character in Poptropica would get a nose, whether they liked it or not. That turned out to not be true (everyone NOSE that Poptropicans don’t have noses!) However they did release a new item into the store called Fake Noses. With it you get three different pairs of fake noses/glasses/mustaches to wear. The colors of the glasses are green, purple, and red.

It helps to be nosey.

Still no word from the creators on when Twisted Thicket Island will be coming!

The Poptropica Creators are still being really secret about the launch date for the next island, called Twisted Thicket Island. Even though they still have not announced when members will be able to play it in early access, they have been posting short bits and pieces about the island including this latest blog post from Captain Crawfish:

The picture shows a Poptropican being lifted up by a small flock of dryads. The dryads are those little glowing fairy-like things and have been introduced in some prior blog posts and sneak peeks for Twisted Thicket Island. Although dryads are usually part of Greek Mythology, they will show up here in the Norse-mythology inspired woods of Twisted Thicket Island.

In other news, the next island to follow Twisted Thicket still has not been announced, but there have been several sneak peek images posted in the Daily Pop section of Poptropica. It will have a sporting event theme around the ancient Olympics. Check out this screen shot that was posted the other day. It looks cool!

The Poptropica Creators just announced the name of the twenty-sixth island in Poptropica: Twisted Thicket Island. This new quest will take place deep inside a mystical and magical forest with strange and wonderful creatures of fable. The island has either a Norwegian or Swedish theme and includes some town scenes as well. There’s also a potential sub-plot involving some fairly major construction. If you watch the official trailer that the creators posted on YouTube you’ll get some great sneak peeks into what it will all be about.
